Our services are 100% free to both job seekers and employers. We have a full suite resource and information center with access to computers, fax machine, printing, photocopying and literature that will assist you with creating a dynamite resume and cover letter. Our highly skilled R&I staff and fully qualified counselors are at your disposal to assist with all your job search needs, and our Employer Liaisons are on staff to assist employers with their hiring concerns.
Absolutely! Our Ajax location has the JSW: Job Search Workshop for Newcomer Youth program.
JSW is funded by CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) and has been successfully running workshop since 2008.
JSW team has partnered up with several community agencies from across the Durham region to serve newcomer youth in the community.
The JSW program eligibility requires you are a permanent resident of Canada, landed immigrant, live-in caregiver on convention refugee.
Currently there are 2 JSW models running: Model A : Morning workshops 21 hours & Model B: Evening workshop 16 hours.
Both workshops are being held in Durham schools, libraries & on site at NLC Ajax.
Durham Transit tickets are provided to the JSW eligible clients.
JSW Team is working towards helping, welcoming and ensuring the success of newcomer youth in Durham region.

Yes! Our Ajax location hosts a new program called the Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW) which is specially designed to cater job seekers between the ages of 55-64. To qualify for this program you must be over 55, be out of work or work less than 20 hours a week, live in the Durham area (Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa), and be able to commit to dedicating 25 hours per week to workshops, job seeking and skill upgrading.

Each client that comes into our programs are pre-screened, skill assessed and put through a series of workshops which enhance their skills. The cheery and helpful resource and information counselors will work with you one-on-one to get you connected to the best job search websites, assist you with building a top notch resume and cover letter, and direct you towards educational tutorials that will help you enhance your abilities.

Cover letters are your introduction to the employer. A properly written cover letter will tie your qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and strengths to that of the job posting. Because this is your first point of interaction with an employer, your cover letter should be written with careful consideration. Check and double check for spelling errors, proper use of grammar and that your cover letter is engaging and specifically targeted towards that employer and position.
