The focus of labour adjustment is to provide supports and services to displaced workers, the community, and organizations with job-threatened workforces.
Adjustment objectives are:
- to help individuals deal with their job loss and plan for their future as quickly and effectively as possible
- to help communities anticipate, respond to, and manage changes in the local labour market
- to strengthen organizations with job-threatened workforces, and protect jobs
Northern Lights Canada works in partnership with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, employers, workers, and the community to provide a comprehensive list of adjustment services:
- individual needs assessment and the development of action plans
- job search assistance
- employment and educational counselling
- information on training
- personal support to deal with the stress of job loss
- financial and credit counselling
- information on starting a small business
- access services for special-needs groups
- coordinating/chairing adjustment committees
- designing services to meet the individual needs of adjustment programs
