Are your employment services free of charge?

Yes, all of our Employment Resource and Employment Assessment Centres are funded in part by the Government of Canada, in partnership with Employment Ontario, and there is no charge for you to access our services.

Can you provide information on Second Career, Self-employment Benefits Program, Targeted Initiative for Older Workers Program or other government funded programs?

Yes!

Do you offer workshops to help me brush up on my job search skills?

Northern Lights Canada delivers dynamic, informative, and inspiring workshops on a variety of employment-related topics. For a list of workshops offered by a Northern Lights Employment Services Centre near you please contact us through our locations map.

How can Northern Lights Canada help me?

We provide Employment Services in 19 locations across Ontario, working to assist Ontarians with their employment needs. We can help in a number of ways. We provide:

  • an overview of your skills and experience,
  • information about different careers and occupations,
  • local labour market, employment and training opportunities,
  • information about all Employment Ontario programs and services, as well as
  • Advice about and referral information to other community services and support.

You can learn about developing effective job search strategies including resumé preparation.

Depending on your particular employment needs and career goals, an Employment Counsellor will determine whether you need more individualized assistance and support to help you develop your career and set goals, assess your skills and interests, and prepare you for interviews and employment.

You may be eligible for on-the-job training and/or work experience support, and in some cases, additional support to help keep you at work.

We offer FREE job search resources and services, including cover letter and resume assistance, access to newspapers, job ads, computers, internet and email. Photocopying and faxing of your job search materials, access business directories, community information and resources, workshops and more ... All at NO COST to you!

Northern Lights Canada offers you job matching and placement assistance. Save valuable time, energy, and money trying to recruit talent for your business. We can introduce you to the people and skills today’s workplace requires.

Your local Employer Liaison is available to help you with:

  • Support in identifying human resource needs and filling vacancies
  • Posting jobs in the Employment Services Centre
  • Assistance with creating job postings
  • Screening and collecting resumes for your vacancies
  • Helping you with the writing of interview questions
  • Job matching and placement, with monitoring and retention strategies (financial incentives may be available)
  • Understanding local labour market trends including wages and salaries.
