When several major employers in a community like Collingwood closes their doors it can have a devastating effect on employees and the town.
As coordinator of Surviving and Thriving in Today’s Economy, a conference organized to bring our community partners and resources together for a one day event to provide our community with information, resources, and hope for the future, we knew it would be important to have dynamic speakers delivering this message. That’s why we invited Joanne Stuart from Northern Lights to be a presenter. Her experience and reputation in the career development field made her an obvious choice and she did not disappoint.
Joanne held the audience during her delivery with a combination of hope, humour and practical know how. She told stories that people could relate to and instilled a sense of purpose and action that moved our workers forward. The feedback we received about Joanne’s presentation showed that her words proved to be an encouragement to those in attendance as she discussed the importance of having a resume ‘tell your story’ to the reader in order to form that essential connection with potential employers.
Based on the response we received, Joanne would be one of the first people to be called upon when planning future events.
